Hospital Bag Checklist

For Mum:

  • Silver nipple shields

  • Nipple ointment, such as Lanolin Nipple Cream

  • Perinatal bottle, since some hospitals don’t provide these

  • Peppermint oil, to sniff to help you pee after labor

  • Flip flops or slippers

  • Socks with grip

  • Maternity pads

  • Black 100% cotton underwear, one size larger than your regular size

  • Prenatal vitamins

  • Labor playlist, see mine here

  • Comfy nursing nightgown (if you’re having a c-section you’ll definitely want a nightgown vs leggings/pj pants that sit right on the incision)

  • Black soft robe

  • Going home outfit

  • Nursing bras

  • Breastfeeding pillow, or if you’re having twins – a twinz pillow

  • Small handheld fan

  • Birth plan printed

  • Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, face wash, deodorant, hair ties, shampoo/conditioner, etc.)

  • Aromatherapy oils, especially if you have been using them during pregnancy, i.e. for hypnobirthing

  • Contacts / Glasses

  • Phone charger

  • Camera

  • Eye mask

  • Ear plugs

  • Kindle

  • Red raspberry leaf tea

  • Bag for dirty clothes

  • Vomit bag (to have on hand for beginning of labor, just in case)

For Baby:

  • Coconut oil for baby’s bum, antibacterial properties

  • Baby Clothes (size newborn & 0-3 months), socks & mittens

  • Snowsuit, if it’s cold

  • Baby diapers, size newborn & 0-3 months, if you have a preferable brand (most hospitals will have diapers)

  • Large cotton pads

  • Car seat and/or pram

  • Muslin squares / burp cloths

  • Swaddling blankets

  • Birth announcement supplies / outfits

  • Bag for dirty clothes

  • Vitamin D drops
